EMDR

EMDR* is by far the most effective therapeutic tool I have found to help people overcome trauma . Life events can range from small "t" traumas to large-scale "T" traumas. Prolonged stress can also produce traumatic symptoms which affect our bodies as well as our minds, creating negative thoughts about ourselves, others and events. These negative thoughts often develop into phobias, which can sometimes paralyze us and interfere with our daily activities.

EMDR is also used to treat persistant issues such as addiction whether it be alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, overspending...

EMDR is also used for performance enhancement and has been used successfully with athletes, students, musicians, artists, CEO's and other professionals seeking improved performance. Negative self-image, past trauma associated with failure to perform and bad habits can prevent an individual from achieving his or her highest level of performance and creativity. After using EMDR as a performance enhancing tool, these individuals report significant positive changes in their ability to perform.

EMDR therapy uses visual, auditory and sensory cues provided by the client and therapist while having the problem in mind. This is NOT a re-living of the stressful event. Together the therapist and client allow the issue to release itself from the emotional core of the brain. Clients report being calm, relaxed and much less stressed regarding the targeted problem after an EMDR session. A solution to the issue is often reached during the process.

*EMDR, which is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, has been in use for twenty years. It is recommended as one of two "best practice" treatments for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) by the Department of Defense and is approved by the American Psychiatric Association. There is a reason why it is the most researched psychotherapy in the USA. It works!
